Hi, I’m Laura!
Rooting Into Openness, Honesty, and the Here & Now

Are you feeling overwhelmed and low? Do you often find yourself panicking or struggling to regulate your emotions? These feelings can become all encompassing and almost controlling! I aim to support you through processing the reasons why these emotions have taken over with collaboration. I believe that every person knows themselves best (even if you aren’t convinced yourself) and with a bit of support, can find tools and language to start to break down emotional barriers and begin living more freely and comfortably.

With a Master of Arts in both Counseling and Art Therapy, I use a creative and thoughtful approach to guide you through this process. At Thrive Ahead Co., I offer a space where you can safely explore your feelings, process your thoughts, and find the clarity and confidence to move forward.

Who I Work With

You might struggle to get out of bed in the morning, fearful of how you will handle today’s tasks. You’ve probably been doing “the bare minimum” to get through the day and are tired of feeling tired! I work with people, who like you, want more satisfaction from life and more feelings of consistency from their emotional self.

You might take care of everyone else before you think about how to help yourself. Thinking about caring for yourself is overwhelming and maybe even seems pointless as you “get through it”. However, you’re beginning to see the negative effects of not caring for yourself as you do so well for others. You recognize again that you are perpetually exhausted and struggle to find joy with yourself, for yourself. You are ready to work on taking down the walls around your own feelings and allowing yourself to care about the most important person – you.

How We’ll Work Together

Our sessions will be a mix of traditional therapy and creative exploration, depending on what feels right for you. I believe that growth happens when you have the space to be yourself, explore your thoughts, and express your emotions—whether through conversation, art, or a bit of both.

I’ve worked with people in all kinds of settings, helping them unpack what’s going on inside and move toward a clearer, more confident version of themselves. In our work together, I’ll meet you where you are, and we’ll go from there at your pace.

A Bit About Me

I’m originally from Baltimore, Maryland and in 2018, picked up my life and moved to Chicago all by myself! I am very familiar with transition and life changes.

Outside of my work with others, I love making art (surprise!) of almost all kinds, spending time in nature (especially on the beach), going thrifting, playing video games, and getting lost in dramatic shows like Grey’s Anatomy from time to time.

I deeply value my community and time with loved ones and enjoy getting to know those in Chicago, taking time to stand up for what I believe in, and cuddling my three cats as much as possible.
